Hi!

Please review my site and be completely honest if you think I am on the right track…what works, what doesn’t…..I tried to follow your tutorials and videos step by step but got snagged up on a few things, one of them being setting up containers in wordpress. Upon further research I saw a recommendation you made for newbies of socrates. They are awesome…not the perfect theme layout yet, but they are working on a new version that will have more of a magazine layout. I’m not finished with my site….still need to add the majority of money makers but any tips or advice you could lend would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and this great wealth of information you share.

Hi Elizabeth,

Nice work on your site so far. Here are a few thoughts I had while browsing through it.

Your header graphic is nice, works well with the words “woman” and “empowerment” in your byline, but it doesn’t really make you think “weight-loss”. Just something for you to consider.

Your “follow me” icon switches back and forth with a “feed me” icon. I waited to see if there would be one for facebook or any other social networks. Personally, I would have preferred to see a static set of icons all at once, and then pick the one(s) I’m interested in without having to wait to see whether an icon will eventually pop up.

Then you’ve got that tiny little feed icon right underneath. May be confusing to some visitors. (Do you have one feed or two?)

Consider placing your email opt-in form above the recent posts section on your sidebar, right under the above mentioned calls to action. It’s where people traditionally look for such things and SEO experts often recommend placement there, as well.

Your “Free Diet Analysis” box either doesn’t work correctly or is misleading. Looks like this is simply an affiliate link.

Finally, the first thing I noticed when I got to your site was your recipe for chocolate covered strawberries. Although this post is timely, (V-day) the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture (after “yum”!) was “This is healthy?”. Chocolate, sugar, calories … It just doesn’t say “weight loss”.

Perhaps you could include some nutritional info on this treat, like calorie count, sugar content, fat content, etc., showing why this recipe is at the forefront of a weight loss site.

Or perhaps you could add personalization to the post, showing that although we strive to eat as healthy as possible, we all have to indulge just a bit now and then, and this treat is, perhaps, somewhere in the middle of the healthy-unhealthy scale. (I don’t know that for a fact ,but there is fruit invloved!)

As well, adding something more to make this post relevant to your site will accomplish another important goal. This post including the heading and subheading is 131 words long. That is really too short for a post, it’ll be considered thin by Google, and quite possibly by humans, as well.

That’s mho, Elizabeth. You’ve done a lot of work and have begun to create a nice site. Keep it up, and I hope this was helpful.

All the best,

Diana

Hi Elizabeth,

I forgot one thing. On your “About” page, consider adding a bit about your weight-loss journey. You want to show people why they should consider you to be knowledgeable in your site’s topic.

All the best,

Diana
