I actually stopped logging in to clickbank. I’ll admit, I felt a little defeated. The check just showed up on my doorstep. I started the blog a while ago and got absolutely nowhere. Then I followed the course step by step. The thing is, I didn’t have the time to do a lot of stuff on my own. I did use textbroker and repurposed some PLR content to get started. I hit the forums pretty hard. (That’s the boring part.) I paid my niece and nephew $25 to put my website on their profiles so when they made posts, it created a backlink to my website. It just annoyed me to comment on subjects that I really could care less about. I don’t know if it is unethical or not but it worked. I checked yahoo answers for questions that were closed and had terrible answers and wrote a complete article answering the question CORRECTLY. My husband is an avid gamer so he talked up the website and I got my link placed on a couple of guild websites. Many of the gamers have been on the web for years and they don’t make money on their sites which is crazy to me, but placing my link there worked. One of the guys thought what I was doing was cool and bought something just for the heck of it. (A pity purchase i guess, but I’ll take it.) I submitted my rss to my blog to different sites. I notice that I’m starting to get credit for a lot of stuff and to be honest, I have no clue what I did right or wrong there. I got tired of doing that so for $30 and my old ipod I employed my nephew again. I used google webmaster tools. Under “your site on the web” and then “search queries” you’ll see what google sees for your website in relation to what people are looking for. The more I post to my blog it seems like the more impressions and queries or search topics I see listed. One of my articles was a little off base with my niche but slightly related – “impulse spending” and the post actually made it to position 9 on google. Honestly, I have not a clue what I did differently with that one, but it worked. I’m noticing a trend with many of my posts. If I just post them and let them be and not worry about what the keyword is, it starts to get more impressions and clicks. I did pay per click. I got a lot of visits from that, but I can’t say that I got any sales. I have my e-book. When I took away the opt-in box, people started to download it. That is basically where I made my sales. I created my list from a link in a section of my ebook that takes them to an opt-in page. A few of my links in my e-book link to not just clickbank but a few other merchants on different affiliate networks. I haven’t got a check from them yet but I did make a couple of sales. I just have to reach my threshold. I’m re-doing the book now to make it a little “prettier.” I actually got a request for a printed copy but then I realized that I wouldn’t make money if I sent him a printed copy so I made it a non-printable pdf using OpenOffice Word processor then I put it on a CD. Just an idea if you were thinking about it. Next, I’m going to hold a contest to have my visitors submit content for me. An article writing contest if you want to call it something. The winner is the post that gets the most comments. It’s a way to get more visitors to the site. I’m sure if little Johnny wants and ipod touch, he is going to have his friends log in to comment on the post. I just have no clue how to go about it. The one thing that I’ve learned is that you just have to do it and if it doesn’t work adjust or change your approach. I almost forgot, don’t get discouraged if you’re not making money right away. It took me screwing things up to figure it out. Blogging is so much easier than the other Internet Marketing methods out there. Trust me. I only wish I started doing this a long time ago. If you’re here on this forum, stick with it. Write good content and a lot of it. I wrote all of my content first and I have my posts scheduled. I don’t have it scheduled for the same time each week. I make it scattered. One week on a Monday, the next week on a Wed, and so forth. It was hard. I currently have about 80 articles in the cue. Some of it is re-written PLR, some of it is textbroker articles, some of it is transcribed from my recorder. Speaking of which, I carry a little Sony digital recorder. It cost me about $27 from Walmart. Every time I have an ah-ha moment, I record. Even if it doesn’t make complete sense. I post a job on guru or elance and have some one make a huge Word document of my giberish. Then I create an article by copying and pasting my giberish to start or finish my article. I sometimes get a complete post from just my random but useful thoughts. |

Wen Ching Chua, I started the program when it first launched. I am in no way an expert, but there were 3 things I had to overcome: 1. I used my buddies to my advantage. My site sucked. Just get it up and go for it. Your buddies will have a forced smile with clinched teeth and wide eyes at first but they’ll be proud to know a “blogger” when it’s all said and done. Non- affiliate marketing minded people is what finally pushed me into the official “blogger” status. You are responsible for getting the word out about your blog. Don’t be shy about it. The minute you say “…my blog…” and emphasize it’s not about celebrities you immediately become important. Strike up conversations with random people and conspicuously make it about your blog. I didn’t realize that some people actually think that a “blogger” is apart of an elite group of people responsible for perpetuating good and bad things in our society <————–(I learned that mouth full from one of my random conversations in downtown Chicago). My husband and I got T-shirts made at Vistaprint with my logo on the front. He ran out of clothes one day and I managed to tease him about “sporting my brand” everywhere we went. It gave me a reason to act like a teenager again. When he went to buy another shirt just to keep from hearing me say my site outloud, one person told him how sweet he was to help me advertise. Blah blah blah. Some guys would call her a hot chick, I call her lucky to still have a face after flirting with my husband, but helping me advertise for free kept her safe. He unfortunately washed it one too many times and my shirt is too small for him. But the whole “My wife is going to kill me if I spill (fill in the blank) on this shirt!” gets conversations started SOME of the time. When I stopped worrying about making “fast money” the check showed up at the doorstep. Write lots of articles or have someone else write lots of articles, drive some traffic and get another hobby to pass time until the check comes. |

Conrats Marie, I too have made money, but alas, no check. I quit logging into Clickbank for the same reason you did, I hated seeing the check get smaller because of fees. Thanks so much for sharing. I am starting over with a blog, and ditching the landing pages also. And yes, it is an ugly blog, but I am concentraiting on writing enough material for it right now. Keep going, and keep us informed. This is so encouraging to us who are ready to give up!!! |

Congratulations, Marie! Little fish are sweet. My first payment was $120.00. It was actually a result of me trying out some of the different services to make sure everything worked from all angles (including the services), but it was still exciting because it gave me proof that it does work. Cheers Kate |
