hi ros,
i thought i give some feedback about the new forum style – i thought maybe others have the problem as well. usually i have been around here every morning to pop in and answer some questions. but lately – after i could post again – this seems to be really impossible. i canĀ“t really see where new threads are nor can i go there.
i really find this forum hard to use – something like a ” new posts” link or so would definitely help. is that possible?
or maybe it should be there and disappeared?
i liked the layout before where there was a list of the latest topics on the top :-)

Hi Monja

Thanks for the feedback. Since the design change, I scan down the list of forums to see which ones were updated since I was here last. For example, yours showed as being updated 3 hours ago. That way I know which ones to check.

Yes it is different than having the most recent discussions on top, but still manageable by watching the update times.

Thanks for being here!

Jim

I agree with Monja.

The layout of this new forum makes it difficult to scan the topics of recent posts to see if there’s anything I might be of help with, some question that I might not have thought of, but interests me, or a subject that I also have a question about. The old layout was simply much more inviting and user friendly.

At first, I actually thought that there was some kind of glitch, and that a more appealing format would return when the glitch was fixed! I see that Lynn Chong posted in another thread with similar feelings about this new layout.

Also, below the old forum layout, you were able to access the profiles of any members who had posted to the forum, including threads they had posted to and the urls of their websites. I often remember that a certain member might have been involved in a thread which I’d like to revisit, and I would be able to find that topic by going to their profile. As well, I’ve been trying to remember the name of Jen Sutka’s website, but have no way to look at her profile/bio. If her name does not appear as either first or last poster, I really have no way to find her, other than to open each and every thread and hope she’s posted in one of the first few rather than one of the last few.

In addition, it appears that there are still some glitches with this forum, having just tried to access Monja’s profile and being unable to see it due to some strange configuration.

I hope you’ll consider changing things up, Ros. This format (and the glitches that seem to go along with it) is unappealing.

This is probably the first thing I have ever disliked here at the Academy, and I feel a bit lousy for having given voice to the matter, but there it is.

Regards,

Diana

Diana,
you couldn’t have said it any better. I wonder if there isn’t a way to switch to vBulletin – the most common forum and for sure the most pleasing.
I hardly come around here because of the mentioned things. Also, I really loved to help others what I can’t do much anymore so yes… this forum isn’t appealing… sorry.

I don’t like anything about this new lay out..Sorry Ros. It is not user friendly.
